As for the land owners being up in arms, I was always under the impression farmers owned whats on top of the soil, but miners once having the licence for prospecting had what was under the top soil.
There must be something I am missing there, but if the landowner had all the say, very little would be mined at all, so can anyone enlighten the situation. I know the farmer would have to be compensated for loss of earnings as its all dug up, and then things are re-stored with top soil, but why complain about the prospect of future jobs for the area?
