Whoever said consumer spending is down should have a look around Sydney today. Just got back from lunch down Pitt St Mall and the shops are packed with people buying all kinds of stuff. Not sure if its pre-Valentines buy up or tourists going bonkers but it was going off.
Those consumer index/surveys are useless. Just look around the shops or ask people what they've bought online recently.
