It's certainly another hurdle.
From my perspective, I want the deal to go ahead, but with a price that more reflects the value of the company. I don't believe the current offer does that.
It did strike me for a second that this might be a catalyst for a sweetened deal. (I mean an actually sweetened deal.)
But even if a higher offer is made, I'm not sure that would do anything to stop the ACCC or the Foreign Investment Review Board from stopping the transaction. If this would be bad for competition or against the national interest, it would be so at $3 per share too.
