The sad thing is, Stella assets were bought and repackaged with the view for a resale at an inflated price down the track, just like any other MFS asset. Things kinda got swung round on that one though, and so, here we are. Before the fall and before the acquisitions, MFS existed, it just wasn't nearly as imposing. This sale takes them right back there but now their funds business is broken too. Regardless, the point about the "main undertaking" being a mixed bag in this case is intriguing. The funds side of things definitely took a back seat at the top level - forward planning was all about acquisitions for Stella, locally and internationally. Based on that I think it's clear the intent was to focus on almost exclusively milking the Stella cash cow. Pity they borked it. Time will tell if Scott's legal boffins can come up with something solid. Being long on this, I'd like him to, but it's going to take a lot of work, a lot of money and a lot of time. Cheerio
