Firstly, the only people who know whether this is the right move or not is Conti's management. They've delivered shareholder value so far, so I do not think they will stop looking in out best interests.
Secondly, this appears to be a government tender. This is the cheapest way to get coal.
Thirdly, by waiting a few years, Conti may well have to pay 10x the price.
I'm afraid those looking for massive short term growth reallyy need to realise that Conti has a business plan to become a MAJOR player. This shareholder value will take years to play out and core to this is to purchase assets cheaply while they are available.
