. I don't think anyone knows where interest rates are going in the next 12 months. A couple of months ago the stats say more than 100 000 jobs were created in one month. The economic growth stats tell a different story with the economy contracting on a per capita basis. Retail sales figures released yesterday showed a significant fall. Interest rates probably aren't going anywhere until August as signalled by the commentator cited. Whether they go up, down or side ways after that is probably vital to the outcome of the next election, but forecasting which way they'll go given the conflicting data seems like pure guesswork.
