Doggydidit raises an important direct question on the timing of the disclosure.

Indirectly, the question becomes: was this corporate incompetence, negligence or imprudence?
If it is not one of the three, then the blame lies with the Mozambican government, more specifically with the Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy. The ANN tried to place blame solely on the government (see print below).

If the government is solely to blame for "Triton [being] very disappointed by this outcome", what assurances do shareholders have that a similar sleight of hand will not deprive Triton of its other mineral rights? And how about other mining companies in the country (e.g. Syrah and Vale), are they also at risk? I do not buy it because Mozambique has many problems, but its natural resource sectors has modern legislation and has continuously attracted billions in investment with no major scandal over expropriation of assets (mineral or otherwise).

Triton shareholders (current and future) deserve proper disclosure.
