There will be a defects maintenance period included in the contract but earlier news reports suggested that the initial ongoing maintenance award was also SINRW's. The announcement includes the word 'maintenance' as part of what has been won, but didn't elaborate on the terms.
In terms of 'training staff up' as FB stated, most of the maintenance items won't be something you can just train people up to do. It will require the acquisition of specialist plant and skillets which NRW would take years to procure - and I mean this in both a financial and HR sense. Given the contract value and even anticipating a sensible sum for the maintenance contact, this wouldn't be worth it
