My opinion is that you have been conservative risking only around 1% of your portfolio on a spec share which might have folded and so is probably worthless. That is not really a big deal in the life of a stock speculator , and no one likes losing money, but that is the nature of the game.
Maybe time to let go of that, and invest in one new spec, again risking 1%. At the end of the day you are only invested in one spec, as the old one doesn't count now.
If it comes good later then it will be a bonus.
IMO investment in one spec at a time is not mathematically sound, like buying one lotto ticket yearly and hoping for a substantial win.
On the other hand those without a large appetite for risk should stick with blue chip stocks, and even then capital losses can be severe, as with banks recently. Stock markets are inherently risky and behave wildly quite often, more than we like to believe.
