i havent read the exact details of the deal as this was only a bounce trade for me but perhaps reading that and rationalising some comments from the zip thread will not only help you understand the deal but also help you learn something new for your stock market experience endeavours.

the only thing i could suggest to you is dont over invest when youre new to investing. learn to divide your capital into different amounts when buying into a falling knife, and dont be afraid to sell as the price decreases if your investment is working against you. always have spare capital to deploy and always know when to accept defeat and cut loose. it took me years of learning to get to where i am today and i am still a noob. luckily the last two years made me gain back all the losses from previous years but i know now more than ever that this is a brutal game and we play it at our own peril. thats why they say "diversify" but being the gambler that i am i mostly have 3 or 4 highly concentrated positions and apply active management with them for the goal of increasing my shareholding without over allocating capital.

dont despair though. the markets arent going anywhere anytime soon and there will always be opportunities to make money.

Hmm. I thought it was a signed deal.
This is bad news. If the deal falls through, SZL will drop like a rock to below one dollar.
