I don't imply sipa have it wrong, in fact I believe Sipa is the most geological explorer in the area.
Horshoe Lights is a remobilised System. It is also chalcocite - a weathering product. Geo's I know drilled all around Horseshoe Lights and found zip, nothing.
The degrussa orebodies are gold/chalcopyite. Myself, and other experienced VMS geo's feel SFR have not done a good job giving an adequate descriptive model. We are still confused about its origins.
A true VMS system has a gold/copper feeder system, surrounded by a large alteration halo. furthermore, there should be an exhalitve component of barite, lead, zinc, silver and gold in massive to semi-massive sulphides. The amounts of the various metals will vary, and there may be deformation etc.
For example, in the Pilbara, the VMS deposits are small, scattered, but barite rich - explorers follow the barite to it leads to the massive sulphides and the feeder systems.
So where is the base metal exhalites and barite? These should be more regionally extensive than the copper feeder zone. If degrussa is a VMS, the only logical explanation is that the exhalites are faulted off somewhere else.
So whether or is VMS or remobilised, the copper sulphide will show up on the TEM and downhole EM.
So for exploration success, TEM and EM will find areas to test, but it's a by the numbers game. That is, the more work done, and more targets tested, the better the chance of a discovery. Once a discovery is made, figuring out if it is VMS or structural means all follow up work is more focused, more cost effective.
If the copper/gold is structural, then follow the strucures. What structures I cannot comment, I'm not yet that familar with the local rocks to make that sort of statement. But in practice, look for similar structures and test those is the best method.
If the copper/gold is VMS, a similar logic kicks in. Look for similar rocks and follow those.
Cheers
