    its absurd to go over the top like that brucey.

    yes theres a push to reduce the domestic use of gas for appliances such as cookers and heating. electricity tech has become more versatile and less emissions. therefore the govts, in keeping with the drive to lower GHG emissions, are encouraging a transition and the ban on new housing having access to gas appliances is part of the transition.
