Cook Status...

Many are putting a lot of hope in the Cook relationship (myself included), but I've been following the IVC lawsuit updates and there are currently ~250 suits to be carried out (all have been consolidated to one court) and I'm wondering what the total fallout will be should Cook be found negligent.

Obviously I'm not across each case and there will be varying degrees of impact, but beyond monetary impact, what's the potential for reputational damage in the industry and what does the appetite look like for an improved product.

Cook Medical: "Yes, yes, we know the last IVC broke apart and lodged in your patient's lung ultimately resulting in the same outcome it was built to eliminate, BUT, we fixed it so it's all good...."
Heart Surgeon: "....Ummmm...   No...."

I guess my point being, yes it will be great to be a part of a new device that actually works, but I think I'd be asking for a higher up front payment and lower commission.  Also, not being too familiar with the major competitors in the field, does anyone have any idea on the impact to date on the sales for Cook in IVC devices as a result of the current status?
