Alexium has been selected as the supplier of chemistry on a number of new mattress lines with both existing and new customers which are expected to be launched at the Las Vegas Furniture market later this month. Leveraging our current success in bedding, Alexium is expanding the Alexicool portfolio to enable penetration into higher volume market segments.

Bedding: In addition to the current sales of Alexicool, which currently sits at c80t per month, there exists an opportunity to expand these to c400-500t per month with an existing major customer. This would involve an application into a much greater and broader range of products, as the customer looks to internalise its fabric manufacture, in turn necessitating greater control over supply chain (i.e. chemistry).

The Winter 2018 Las Vegas Market is being held this week. Mattress majors, Serta and Simmons (owned by parent company, Serta Simmons, the largest bedding manufacturer in North America) are both launching new lines incorporating PCM cooling technology.

Serta’s new offering, which is said to build upon the ongoing success of the company’s iComfort memory foam collection, is a hybrid mattress combining a coil support system with memory foam. The new line has 11 mattresses and features Tempactiv cooling memory foam. Select models also feature Tempactiv Touch fabric. It was at last year’s Winter Las Vegas market that Serta first launched its iComfort memory foam line of mattresses featuring Tempactiv PCM.

At this week’s market, Simmons is also launching five new hybrid models in its Beautyrest Platinum mattress line which incorporate Infinicool Surface and Infinicool HD Surface technology. Infinicool is said to “uniquely position phase-change materials directly beneath the fabric covers to help move heat away from the body” and is also described as “a cool-to-the-touch feeling on the memory foam surface”.

Simmons has made the decision to expand the use of Infinicool beyond mattresses. In addition to the new Beautyrest Platinum line, Simmons is simultaneously launching a new sleep accessories line called Beautyrest Complete. The collection, designed to work with Beautyrest mattresses as a comprehensive system, features pillows, mattress covers and pillow covers. The mid to high range pillows feature the same Infinicool PCM used in the Platinum mattresses. The Infinicool trademark was filed in late October last year with respect to "fabric covering pillows and mattresses".
