As a reminder, Lava & Son is the largest US distributor of mattress making components. It provides hundreds of different bedding components. It also provides sourcing, mattress design, sewing, assembly and packing services.
Under this agreement, A Lava will act as distributor for Springs Creative Firegard products – flame barrier socks, caps and interliners for bedding. Firegard isn't a chemical and isn't a newly emerged competitor product to Alexiflam. It’s already been on the market for 25 years and is said to be the original flame barrier fabric. It is an inherent FR fabric product, not a topically applied FR treatment. It is available in a heavy duty form (modacrylic fibre + silica) which is suitable for latex and gel foam beds or a “green” form (a densely woven rayon) which has no added FR chemicals. It is promoted as the only FR product in the industry that is UL GREENGUARD and UL GREENGUARD Gold Certified.
Lava provides mattress manufacturers with a choice of hundreds of mattress components. I assume that Springs Creative's FR fabrics will be just one more option available to Lava customers. I also assume that Firegard would be a more expensive FR solution than Alexiflam.
