Snap inspections of all company trucks is a continuous program for the RTA.
    They do a great job!
    Catch heaps.
They caught COOTES, heaps of times.

I once applied to work for Cootes and was told by employees that the trucks work 24hrs, one driver hops out of his truck and the next driver hops in.
Drivers are expected to keep to the office formulated timetable that often fails to take into account factors such as traffic and weather and was told the wages were peanuts for the workload and risk.
Drivers of such companies are often compelled to drive regardless of defects that have occurred on the previous shift. With a 10 min changeover, drivers are often expected to keep to the schedule, regardless of defects.
No team spirit means no job.
Everyone including the RTA have previously blamed the aussie driver trying to feed his family, for an RTA embarrassment, and hand out debilitating fines to them.
Maybe this time they are taking a good look at the ars...ols that own these companies, the work place polices they make, and then, the mega millions they are making such as COOTES!
Maybe the NSW govt is finally starting to do this now!

PS: I have worked for Linfox and others and have never experienced that sort of bad culture! So the system does work for those that do comply and don't push the boundaries.

PSS: Criminal forensic analysis of every single company driver log book should be mandatory when any company driver is involved in an accident involving death or serious injury, and cross against other drivers logs, RTA records and individual timetables! If there is systematic abuse, shut them down!

PSSS: Maybe Cootes can see this coming, and by the news today, maybe covering themselves?
