The railway extension from Nong Kai in Thailand to Vientiane in Laos will be completed sometime this year and has been in the pipeline for nearly 10 years now...it only runs across the freindship bridge and is about 7kms in total length...10 YEARS!! The alleged railway running through Laos from North to South (as mentioned in ORD's reports) is a pipeline fantasy and would be years away from completion...add to that the lack of available electrical power to the Bolaven Plateau and you are talking about a project that is bare minimum 5 years from production (and even that is being extremely optimistic and assuming they have the resource)..if you have Laos in mind then you need to have an absolute minimum 5 to 7 year timeframe...
