While individuals have limited power to influence a stock price through their own buying or selling, there is evidence that online forums can drive sentiment and influence others to participate.
All you need is one influential poster and a crowd to follow, and things can get distorted fairly quickly.
To say there is no influence is not correct.
A recent example is GameStop and the meme trades in general.
If you think otherwise, you're ignoring the facts.
Even the SEC became concerned about the power of the Reddit crowd and the influence of online forums.
