The second quarter of 2024 has shown a diverse range of performance trends among leading zinc producers, with notable changes in production levels compared to Q2 2023. Glencore, the largest producer listed, reported a production of 211,600 metric tons of refined zinc, reflecting an 8% decrease from the previous year. In contrast, Vedanta demonstrated growth, with its refined zinc production reaching 198,000 metric tons, a 7.03% year-over-year increase.

Teck Resources reported 152,000 metric tons of zinc in concentrate, experiencing a decline of 7.32%. Meanwhile, Newmont’s production of zinc in concentrate surged by 83.72%, representing a standout performance among all companies. Similarly, Lundin Mining Corporation and Boliden AB saw double-digit growth in zinc in concentrate, with increases of 31.41% and 13.91%, respectively.

Conversely, Volcan and MMG posted declines in refined zinc production, with Volcan down by 15.5% and MMG experiencing a modest drop of 0.95%. Boliden AB recorded the most significant reduction, with a 35.35% year-over-year decrease in refined zinc production.
