I appreciate that everyone invests differently. But I can't recall buying a share where I did not have a minimum of 12 months as a window. And only that because of the peculiarities of our tax system, god love em. Zero capital gains on owner occupied dwellings, and that nice 50% discount on stocks held for that period are two examples of gifts from above, oddities we don't see often in this game.
Not only has the discount saved much direct money in its effect, it has also on balance protected me from loss, an enforced discipline if you will, In this stocks case for instance I wait a minimum of 12 months sitting at an avg of .50c I think/hope I have done my homework.
