Midday commentary from the AFR today.......
Other metals including copper and silver advanced, with Brent crude oil futures at five-month highs close to $US90 a barrel.
“Gold rose to another record after Fed chair Jerome Powell stated it will be appropriate for the Fed to begin lower interest rates some time this year,” said ANZ Bank.
“Copper hit its highest level since January 2023 as strong demand and supply tightness buoyed sentiment,” ANZ added in a morning note.
