Copper eased to close down at US$4.28/Ib
Note: Copper touched an intra-day high of US$4.34/Ib just before US inflation data was released and over the next 90 minutes of trading fell to US$4.24/Ib. Copper's recovery to US$4.28/Ib is testament to the huge increase in copper contracts caused by the looming copper deficit. The copper deficit thesis is well intact.
Copper contracts traded today numbered 144,805 well above the current daily average of just
87,157 contracts.
Gold closed down at US$2,331/oz
Zinc closed up at US$2,751/tonne
