About 80% of the world's copper comes from two types of copper deposits.
1) Porphyry copper deposits.
2) Sediment hosted copper deposits.
The porphyry copper deposits are by far the largest in size and are in affect massive concentrations of copper and other minerals such as molybdenum, silver & gold.
Such deposits are associated with volcanic activity along the boundaries of what geologists term tectonic plates.
These plates have been in existance since earth was formed.
Some of the largest actually the largest are found in Chile/Peru "The Home of Copper" in mines like TOPUEPALA & CUAJONE owned by copper giant Southern Copper.
That"s why I was attracted to Metminco (MNC) which I might add was very good to me looking to buy back in soon in a big way easily the best copper play in the market imo.
