    re: increased volatlity There was a article in the Fin Review last weekend regarding the top 3 stocks to own in 2007. BHP was one of them. Last year it underperformed when compared to the ASX and other mid/junior miners. But it represents a true diversified miner, with interests in pretty much everything you can get out of the ground. For this reason it should weather the storm better than the KZL, LHG, ZFX, and OXR's of this world. Most of these have put on over 100% in the last 12 months while BHP has put on a fairly small percentage. If I had to park my money in a miner it would have to be BHP followed by RIO. Some people say RIO is more favoured currently but hey they both seem farily cheap. But hey, what is cheap today might be cheaper tomorrow.
