World copper production exceeded consumption by 13,000 tons between January and May 2006, against a deficit of 179,000 tons in the same year ago period, this according to the latest International Copper Study Group monthly bulletin.
Workers at the worlds biggest copper mine in Chile were set to resume work at the weekend after agreeing to an improved pay package with majority owner BHP Billiton that ended a 25 day strike that rolled world copper markets.
