For those that aren't familiar with patents, the patent I posted in my last post reffered to a method that could fire electrically initiated stacked round technology (metalstorm) for a conventional gun up to and including 120mm,for both lethal and non lethal payloads, this is the method where they can use electronically initiated stacked round technology (metalstrom technology)in an artillery gun or one on a tank for instance, one which uses a cap fired cartridge that steps out, i.e one where the projectile is smaller the the OD of the cartridge, the projectiles in this new round would be the same calibre as in the normal type of round that fits type of weapon the outside diameter of the casing would be exactly the same, in fact for all intense purposes this round would look very similar to a spent cartridge from the older round, i.e there would be no projectile protuding, because it is in the round itself, in fact two or more of them, that is this round has multiple projectiles in it.

In the patent it doesn't describe how it achieves the electronic firing .

This patent is very similar to the patent by BAE-bofors that was posted by the adder on SS, it is using the same principle of an outer and inner tube where the inner is carrying the projectiles and the propellant is in between the two tubes, the area between these two tubes is blocked of in unison with where the projectile sits in the barrel, in so much as the propellant for that particular projectile sits in the area between the two tubes, and is essentially sitting around the projectile, the inner tube has holes in it that allow the expanding gasses from the fired propellant to escape into the inner tube and force the projectile for that propellant load to leave the barrel.

I believe if this method is used then metalstorm would have to be due some sort of payment in the form of royalties for each round produced, the same would apply to the BAE-bofor rounds!in fact in the BAE patent they mention that metalstorm tech is used.

I don't think it will be too long before we start seeing these new rounds in some of these weapons already out there
