just a note to students of phenology on the property that I live in - the Irises have been blooming for about a week - about 15th April for certain - they have never bloomed in April as far as anyone in the area can remember, in this area - it's always been mid May it's been a very warm winter - with one 'cold' patch - not super cold, but more than 'cold' - that only lasted 2 weeks but there has been rain +++++++ in the last months and after a very warm period - where I was in T shirt - a dark coloured T shirt walking only about a week or so back - and, wishing that I'd been in a white T shirt ----------- we are now back to fairly cold - with the heater back on. the plants - don't lie ------- they know something is different. At least - something for at least half a century is different - before then - no one is around to say

My God. Half a century is a drop in the bucket as far as climate cycles are concerned. Our camellias are always in full flower on 7th April (Our son’s birthday) This year they haven’t even started to flower. What does this prove?
