**corby - how's this for a judgement**

"The judges found Corby's defense team could not prove if there was another person responsible for the drugs.

"The defendant has been proven legally and convincingly guilty" a translator quoted the judges as saying on Sky News.

"We've found that drugs were imported into Indonesia. Importation is illegal in Indonesia and it occurred at Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar. This occurred without a licence or any permit to do so. It may not be done by anyone."

"She has been unrepentant to this. It is found the defendant is responsible for the narcotics and this should be considered when handing down the judgment."

According to this judgement, Corby has been "unrepentant" and should have admitted her guilt!

Because the drugs were found in her baggage, under Indonesian law she was prima facie guilty. You see, she was responsible for that baggage, even during the time it was not in her possession.

In an Indonesian court you are assumed guilty. You have to prove that you are not guilty. Unlike here where the prosecution has to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt, in an Indonesian court the accussed has to prove their innocence. So if the drugs were planted in her baggage Corby had to prove THAT occurred. Of course that is asking the impossible.

The guilty verdict of the trial was a foregone conclusion.

Travel to Indonesia at your peril. Because if anyone plants drugs in your baggage once they are no longer in your possession, when discovered by Indonesian customs you will not be able to prove your innocence. You are assumed guilty and will be found guilty by the circus masquerading as a Court of Justice.
