Australian international student visa statistics for the full 2024/25 FY released today by the Department of Home Affairs. IDP's early June Update had Australia down 10% for the 2024/25 FY.
Topline: 322,773 new student visas Vs 331,775 in 2023/24. Decline of only 2.7% Vs IDP's forecast of -10%.
May and June were clearly bumper months for new international student visa grants. Great news for IDP into 2026 as these new students will be attributed to FY26 revenue as their courses commence July and August 2025.
New student visas for the Higher Education (HE) business actually grew by 2%, with declines in Vocational and ELICOS (very minor business lines for IDP). Student recruitment into Higher Education IDP's core business back to growth much earlier than expected.
There will be bad news to come from the USA and Canada, but these will be likely in line with IDP's June market update. Great to have positive news after a difficult period for shareholders.
