Ultimately there is still every chance of WP starting to generate some revenue. I was always of the opinion things may have gone very differently if they were ready when they spent the small fortune on marketing. The price was wrong and that alone is enough to sink the ship. They also had a lot of problems with back end stuff like people losing credit or not being able to register numbers. I was overseas at the time in south america and didn't find WP to be that great. Great when it worked but it didn't work often enough to justify the prices. It is after all still at the mercy of the internet quality but charging (at that time) a hefty premium to its competitors like skype. There just wasn't enough there to justify it. The people who didn't mind paying the price when it first started weren't the types who would happily try again if a call failed. They are the types who expect it to work everytime and are willing to pay for that privilege.
With the new pricing structure they have effectively broadened the market a lot. The only way to get the value before was to go on a monthly unlimited plan. which would have a limited market I would expect. Having cheap calls and buying credit makes a lot more sense. It means even the smallest user is going to get the value out of the service and I would like to think they have drastically improved the reliability, but can't speak on that personally as I only call overseas when I am overseas. All this of course is not even factoring in CORONA, or white label.
I really do sense they might just get something over the line. It is still one of those businesses that could grow very quickly if they create the right buzz and can back it up. Really crucial that WP starts to increase revenue next quarterly as we will not see much from CORONA just yet (hopefully they are close to locking down a bunch of contracts and have some high profile trials already occurring) but revenue could still be a way off. As for white label deals I certainly wouldn't be holding my breath just yet. These are icing on the cake deals IMO. If they cannot grow WP and CORONA themselves, I don't see why any other company would really view them as a threat and want to take a piece of the action....there has to be action for this to happen IMO.
The biggest criticism I have of management is being a little too optimistic and over zealous. They came out all guns blazing and expecting to have runs on the board straight away. The original budgeting was done as if "we can spend all the money we have this quarter because we will be making all these dollars next quarter". This was very naive and short sighted by management and shareholders have paid dearly for this incompetence. Now that they are being more conservative and realistic we may actually have a chance, although they have done it at a time when there are no chances left....
Anyone investing hoping for an announcement is wasting their time. We need a quarterly with some dollars attached before we can begin a sustained rise.
