I think that opinion is a little naive. SARS had a fatality rate of 10% versus 2-3% for Corona virus, but Corona virus is spreading about 6 times faster.
SARS impacted the share market until it was eradicated. The market doesn't like uncertainty, hence the SP not bouncing back properly on good news... there's too much macro uncertainty. Who cares about proximity and impact to VMT, if it is still around the market will be nervous.
