but all the reports and modelling being done now take us to a different place from the panic.
I have just been reflecting on the differences in response across the world. Many of the nations that have been slow to respond are both capitalist and democracies (at least in name). Those that have been comparatively fast and brutal do not have a history of democracy and their capitalist system
is comparatively young or combined with some other state based control and ownership. Not all but many
so what instead of criticism for reluctance to go down the path of intervention they had resisted because of their history. What if we saw it as trying to preserve some historical ideals
I'm not sure where it takes me but it’s an interesting philosophical and potentially political conundrum.
