"But we don't have to know anything about the virus to find out what all the ones who get the mild symptoms have in common."
I'm going to assume that you have absolutely no scientific education here. This makes no sense. You talk about a genetic test. What exactly are you looking for? A little cell or protein that says "I can't handle a Coronavirus!"
You cannot provide a solution without first understanding the problem. Nobody can explain why some experience varying symptoms and severities of the disease without knowing exactly how the virus attacks your cells. It would be like being told to search for something in a hay stack whilst blindfolded, and you have no idea what you are looking for.

"This should be much simpler to do that inventing a vaccine."
Again this sounds like you have no scientific education. Should be? As in 'you guess?' What are you basing this on? What qualifications do you hold that enables you to say this? Many thousands of scientists all over the world are collaborating for a solution, who have devoted their life to their studies, but you say they are all misdirected and you know better? Perhaps exercise some restraint in these topics unless you can back it up with some sort of evidence or qualification in the field.
