SARS was a corona virus. It seems that this new corona virus is much more virulent than SARS. SARS was only transmitted after you got very sick, so most people got infected in the health care setting. Consequently SARS only infected and killed about 8,000 people.
Corona viruses (like flu) uses the lungs as a breading and transmission mechanism. Apparently, this new corona virus does not make you sick at first. It just gives you a very mild cough that makes you transmit it, potentially to 1,000s of other people. So, it has the potential of being a time bomb virus.
Now that it has been spread all over the planet, who knows what's going to happen next? The big problem with this virus is, if someone coughs at your workplace or the supermarket, is it just the smoke, cold or flu, or is it the corona virus? Are we all going to have to go everywhere now wearing face masks or respirators?
