I listened to the article about University of Queensland's approach to vaccine production.
The science sounds good. The problem is the time scale and the demand.
I heard them say it will take 4 months to get the vaccine finalised. From there, with the added resources they are getting it will take 12 months to produce 1 million doses.
From what I can tell this may not be nearly enough. The approach needs to be replicated many fold to get many millions of doses ready much more quickly.
There is a chance that the actual mortality rate maybe much lower because mild to moderately sick people in China are simply sleeping it off. The problem is that I don't know this to be fact and we can only go on what Xi is saying.
