People who are infected a subsequent time with a different type of the dengue virus may experience something called "antibody-dependent enhancement." This condition occurs when the immune response actually makes the clinical symptoms of dengueworse, increasing the risk of severe dengue.
pierogi,
I thought Scientists all over the World can’t work out why you can contract Dengue Fever (or perhaps its slightly different sibling of the Degue Family) a second time round and have it worse than the first time.
There seems to be inconclusive research that points toward the antibodies your body makes somehow reacting to a second infection in a way that really gives you a physical battering, an “over reaction” if you like.
As I said, inconclusive.
