Hi Westcott - I'd have to say good luck with getting any responses out of BHP the way in which we can out of UMC. Not trying to be provocative just trying to put across a point that we are fortunate that shareholders can have some communication with the company.
On the rare occasion that I've contacted a UMC director, I've always found them helpful. I don't frequently contact them like I know some do and pee them off requesting trivial information. (Not suggesting that's what you're doing)
I think directors time is valuable and I wouldn't like to see them being distracted from the main game by being hounded by shareholders continually wanting information.
However, I think its commendable that they can spare the time when their hectic schedule permits them to respond to shareholders concerns.
If I don’t like the way in which directors are managing my investment, I have the right to vote them out at the next AGM or sell off my holdings.
