The 'better explanation' is that we just don't have answers for the big questions. It's a work in progress. Maybe it'll never be resolved.

There are countless beliefs, including your own, but beliefs prove nothing. Most contradict each other. Each believer assumes that they are right and the others are wrong, which is a problem when it comes to sorting fact from fiction, not to mention the lack of evidence.
