The high was $141.34 & the dividend was $2.50 & including franking, $3.57.
Now to pay more per share ex-div than the cost at the recent high would be in excess of $141.34 less $3.57 = $137.77.
So far today, the high has been $137.90, currently $137.60.
There will be no dividend for 6 months so what is the mentality of the current buyers when individuals can get a better return with cash deposits at call.
It is only individuals, not super funds who can get that high interest rate so maybe it is investors other than individuals who are pushing up the price.
There is no guarantee that CBA will be able to increase the interim dividend or for that matter the next final dividend next year.
Just be aware, buying above $137.77 is technically in new all-time high territory.
After having bought back 23% of my original holding @ $126.85 & selling more since, I still have over 40% of my original holding. If the share price keeps rising, I will continue to off-load more shares.
