In light of continuing media commentary on Magnis Energy Technologies this post serves to correct misinformation briefly posted at Hot Copper on 6 Oct under a thread titled 'Sacking of Jack Robertson' (post title still publicly visible). The post and the subsequent discussion thread contained statements that were materially untrue, and in Jack Robertson's view highly defamatory, professionally and personally damaging, and, potentially, criminal offences under Section 474.17 of the Commonwealth Criminal Code Act 1995. Some material breached the site's Terms of Use.

Site administrators were advised via a Concerns Notice which outlined the nature of the misinformation, and have responded swiftly, fairly and professionally to the expressed concerns by removing it.

The following public corrections to the removed misinformation are made:

    1. Jack Robertson resigned from his position as Strategic Manager, Batteries at Magnis Energy Technologies with effect 23 March 2021, stating his reasons in writing and wishing the company, its employees and its shareholders well. The company accepted his resignation in writing, thanking him for his contribution.

    2. Jack Robertson has engaged in no public commentary on the company since his resignation, nor has he had any dealings with the media regarding the company, nor excepting two brief postings in May regarding his resignation and this post here has he (or representative parties, under any avatar) engaged in any Hot Copper posting activity, nor has he conducted any activity whatsoever that could be described as part of a 'smear campaign' of the company or any of its employees, nor does he intend to engage in any such activity in the future.

Discussion of stocks at Hot Copper is often vigorous and robust, and criticisms of company staff, current and former, can be a perfectly legitimate and useful part of it. The site's Terms of Use however make the obligations of all posters and commenters crystal clear with regard to the risks of defamation, and worse. All followers of these threads and the site administrators are advised that, in the event of any future reappearance of misinformation regarding Jack Robertson of such an egregious nature as that now removed, a further Concerns Notice will not be regarded as either worthwhile or necessary.

Hot Copper Moderators are thanked for their timely, sensible and proportionate response on this occasion, and with the posting of the material corrections above the matter to this point is now considered satisfactorily resolved. Moderators might consider disabling the comments capacity of this thread prudent.
