Ok so we just kick the can down the road and take no action. Even the right wing Business Council of Australia are calling for strong action. The longer we kick the can and delay industries will be left without any guidance. No business plan because they have no direction from government. If LNP want to hang on to coal and gas without a transistion plan over 30 years then they will be left behind. No one is interested in providing capital to build new coal fired or nuclear power stations. The thing is Australia is a perfect place for renewables be it solar, wind, tidal, geothermal and with some encouragement could be world leaders in the technology. But conservatives are well named.......do nothing in case someone asks "what will it cost" Their mantra is lower taxes but that simply means less money for national infrastructure builds.

If you go to an election having a "do nothing" policy you will pick up votes from pensioners but you will lose the young voters who will be demanding action.
