Cost of Covid Treatment in the US

Being unfamiliar with the Australian healthcare system, I presumptively assume many Aussies may be unfamiliar with the cost of treatment in the US. These costs are largely borne by private insurers and/or the government programs; Medicare or Medicaid or the health care providers may take it on the chin for providing emergency care.

As a Mesoblast long I had concern that the projected cost of treatment with Rem-L might limit its use.

This brings me to the point of my post. A Seattle newspaper published the charges levied for the care of a man hospitalized for over 60 days. The charge was over $1.2 million US. A single day in the ICU was over $9,500, the charge for a ventilator was over $2,800/day and we haven't even considered the cost of doctors. drugs etc.

Now cognizent of the savings that US payers will realize from abbreviated ICU/vent stays due to use of Rem-L, (not to mention the saving of life), alleviated my concern that price will be a limiting factor for Rem-L.

I might add that dRump's bungling response to Covid-19 is another factor worthy of consideration in evaluating the wisdom of a Mesoblast investment.
