    Well, by 2012, there will be a charging network along the east coast of Australia, according to GoAuto news.

    Also, there is a US$1bn for a 250,000 point charging grid for electric cars in San Francisco, due by 2012

    So, it may be closer than you think. Thought I do agree with what you say about the electricty needing to come from somewhere.
