    Pretty dry in northern wimmera/southern mallee (vic), no meaningful rainfall since crop was sown. Crap area extending south a bit each day.
    Total cash costs (incl overheads but not capital items) this year and last around $300/ha, yield could be 3t/ha (last year) to 0.5-1t/ha (this year... hopefully), you can see how this affects cost of production in $/t.
    Variable cash costs vary even within districts, depending on rotation etc. but i reckon i could (and will have to) get them down to $120/ha with which i could possibly achieve a yield of 2t/ha without further expenditure on fert, wouldn't consider that sustainable long term though.
    conclusion, theres money in $140/t in good yield years, marginal in average years, certainly not in bad.
