Dave, love your bit about Costello pulling funny faces......
I have noticed that with Costello for years. When he was on the front bench in government, he was very aware of the TV cameras for the hour or so during question time telecast.
He would sit there trying to look intelligent. Then someone would say something he thought he should laugh at, so he'd bung on this rehearsed smile. And then he'd give us the caring look, and then the smirk of course!!....lol.
Costello is such a rehearsed, insecure sort of bloke I reckon. Who would ever know what makes up the person that is Peter Costello??? I have watched him for years on TV etc and don't feel as though I know him one iota more than i did when I first saw him??? Honestly, it's rather odd.
Some will say the same about Rudd, but I don't think Rudd is anywhere near as robotic and rehearsed as Peter Costello. It's kinda like Costello just doesn't know how to be genuine. Occasionally he goes quite bizarre trying to be geniune.....like when he visited that girl's school during the election campaign and he was carrying on sort of weirdly. The whole act just doesn't seem to gel. Did he go to that school??....lol. Perhaps that's where he met Downer and Christopher Pyne.....lol.
