I don't see how it would be in the national interest to allow ownership of Coles to fall into foreign hands....

I would suggest that many in the electorates will be opposed to this, and at a time when Costello's leadership ambitions have never been greater, I think there is little doubt that he would not allow an opportunity such as this to be seen as the proverbial "Knight in..........." to pass by

Propaganda will be bandied about the media in regards to cheaper prices in order to sway the masses into believing that this will actually be a Godsend.....but who amongst us saves their money by renting the home they live in instead of owning it.

Back door methods of a takeover using friendlies....it's possible....but that could happen at any time to any company....that's not the same as ownership though, and the risk involved in such arrangements often deter any such deals....tell me, how many of us have had the odd thought cross our minds when we transfer our assets into other peoples names....will we be screwed....even by family members.....

In any case Costello will certainly block this and rightly so....
