Costello has done superbly as treasurer, but I don't know what he stands for ... in his uni days he was in the labor party and then made the swap. His brother is a cmininster, yet in interviews I've seen Costello smirking at religion, yet we clearly see he is not a religious like his brother when it comes to his views on RU486. He looks to be standing for a change in govt policy w.r.t the aboriginals, yet makes speaches which are ambiguous as to his views on race. He's a republican, yet under pressure from Howard changed his views in the constitutional convention.
The man's a mystery, and his track record seems to show to me that he makes alot of concessions of his own values. Maybe all he actually stands for is power. He seems to believe that he is entitled to the Prime Ministership. What about Brendon Nelson who is rising through the ranks?
