Lived in Darwin 1984-1987.
At the time, the domestic terminal was on the other side of the airport, with a short road exit to the Stuart Highway and a right hand turn to head into Darwin City.
As the taxi turned right, on vacant land on the other side of the highway, that is exactly what I saw.
