As I said, the average seam thickness IN THE SOUTH of the deposit is over 3m. You can see the isopach maps in the report.

I think you might be onto something. CNX is doing horizontal drilling - one well cannot simultaneously gasify both seams. They would have to drill a sidetrack or something to penetrate both seams. CXY is drilling vertically, so each of their wells will penetrate both seams. They're also using hydraulic fracturing for linkage - it's quite possible they may be able to frac the interburden between the seams and effectively get the reactor to behave as a single seam. That would give them ~5m of coal, which is enough.
So it's quite possible that the deposit could be suitable for CXY but not for CNX.
Once again, I'm just speculating.
As for those arguing over Blinderman, my understanding is he's a Russian who now lives in Canada. Ergo is of course a Canadian company.
