Cougar seeks coal seam gasification nod

Cougar Energy says it will ask for Queensland Government approval to go ahead with full-scale underground coal seam gasification in the South Burnett, in the state's south-east.

The company says testing at three pilot underground coal wells shows the process is viable.

The company wants to produce gas for power generation by burning coal seams underground at its Kingaroy base.
